A little while ago I took part in "Bring back the Dead", an exhibition organised by Joanne Garner at Anomaly. There were 34 participants from 7 different countries.
"The jewellery will be given away to another jeweller and given a new life, brought back from the depths of your studios and workshops and brought back from the dead!"
I was really pleased to be given the brooch by Heather Woof. It is very beautiful and it reminds me of stacked books, although I know a lot of her work is inspired by Scottish weather!
As part of the exhibition we were asked to submit an image of us wearing the piece we gave a new home to. So here is a pic of me wearing it and an image of the work up close, lucky me!

As part of Loukia Richards project/exhibition "Mythen/Myths", she has recorded the portraits of people living and working in Hamburg or Berlin, wearing pieces from the exhibition. I love this way of presenting jewellery...it brings them to life!

"Few Western artists managed to resist charming Greek mythology. From Titian, El Greco and Corot to Picasso, De Chirico and Caro -- just to name a few -- art history shows us that innumerable geniuses sought their Muse in the realm of heros, nymphs, semi-gods and blood thirsty cyclops.
Jewellery is not just a craft but also a sign language in Greece used to communicate emotional, social and religious messages. As a wearable art, jewellery can literally carry the message that "Greek creativity is alive and kicking" (despite negative news headlines for the economy).
Loukia Richards, a Greek-British artist, is the curator of the double show Mythen/Myths to open in Berlin and Hamburg next month. She asked ten jewellery designers to update Greek myths of their choice and explain why they still make sense. Designers worked with a broad spectrum of material such as gold, wood, enamel, leather, fibers, plastic etc.
The exhibition Mythen/Myths shows their reflections on love and treason, on the unbreakable mother-daughter bond, on death and resurrection, on the truth of eternal movement and constant change, on the immortality of love, on resistance against tyranny. Photo portraits of Germans working the fields of art, business, communication, urban politics and wearing the exhibition jewellery also make part of the show. These pictures are meant to promote art appreciation beyond cultural or political boundaries.

I am showing two new works in a textiles exhibition that has just opened in a gallery in Great Missenden, Bucks. "Auricula Brooch" and "Seed Head Brooch" will be on display until the 9th November.
"Contemporary miniature works that express a sustained conversation with materials, is the focus of a new exhibition, Pinpoint, by fine art gallery ‘One Church Street’, opening on 12th October 2013."
"The selecting panel included leading figures within the textile art world, Polly Binns and Linda Brassington, who worked in collaboration with the Directors of One Church Street Gallery. The panel reviewed submissions from hundreds of applicants from around the world, seeking a breadth of approach in the construction or application of cloth and thread. The gallery has been particularly keen to focus on the delicate space that artists navigate between fine craft and fine art. By incorporating a diversity of textile material, technique or process these works seek to cross the boundaries of artistic practice."
"The final exhibits selected, embrace work that is sculptural, experimental, two-dimensional and even four-dimensional. Each piece is no larger than 20 x 20 x 20 cm, unframed and unglazed. Submissions have been accepted from an international arena including Israel, Finland, United States as well as the United Kingdom."
